Starting and Ending your Speech
Summary: Learn the basics of starting and ending speech analysis in public speaking practice.
Entering your Practice Environment
After confirming your public speaking practice setup, you will enter your chosen or randomized environment to begin practicing your speech.
Starting your Public Speaking Practice
The analysis panel is located on the left side of your screen and serves as your primary tool for the roleplay experience. See the example image below from the Office Room environment for reference.
When you're ready to begin, select the 'Begin Speech' button to start the process. This will activate your microphone and begin recording and analyzing your voice.
Speech Timer
After you select 'Begin Speech,' a 'Speech Duration' panel will appear above the panel. This panel displays how long you have been presenting. If you enabled a countdown timer in the configuration menu, it will display as a countdown instead.
Ending your Public Speaking Practice
Once you are ready to end your speech, select the 'End Speech' button:
After selecting the 'End Speech' option, you can either answer 'AI Questions' on your speech, or 'Start Coaching' to get feedback and optionally, start a coaching session to reflect on your performance.
This will then end the speech practice and show you a loading screen. The app will stop recording your conversation and compile all the conversation data for the feedback and coaching session.
Moving the Speech Analysis Panel
The Speech Analysis panel initially appears on the left side of the screen, but you can reposition it anywhere in your workspace for optimal viewing during your speech.
Hover your laser pointer or hand over the panel's edge until it highlights
Press and hold the inner grip button on your controller to grab the panel
Move the panel to your preferred location
Release the inner grip button to lock the panel in place
While holding the autocue panel, move the joystick forward or backward to adjust the distance of the notes from you.
